Applied Behavioral Science – an Introductory Guide

This easy to understand guide provides an introduction to the foundations of behavioral science for people who want to work with behavioral science and nudging in practice.

In the guide we go into specific principles of behavioral science and how the human brain works — or doesn’t. We explore some of the most common and relevant cognitive biases that cause what we call the intention-action gap — the difference between what people would like to do and what they actually do. We define nudging, a key tool of the behavioral economist, leveraging insights about human decision-making to create behavior change. We introduce our REFINE model which categorizes different types of nudges. We finish with an introduction to our BOOST Model for behavior change — a step-by-step process to creating behavioral interventions or nudges to address your challenges and reach your goals.

Want to learn more? The guide is a starting point for brushing up your behavioral science knowledge before getting started on our self-paced online course —  “Designing Nudges”.

We are a management consultancy applying behavioral insights to create business and societal impact. We use our expertise in behavioral economics and social psychology to design evidence-based solutions to critical challenges.
